Who would have guessed that after spending 26 years serving in the US Army that I would discover some artistic talent? When I retired in 2001, my husband said he wanted to live in the Southwest desert for the dark skies and lizards. Together we decided Tucson.
Shortly after moving here, I discovered fused glass jewelry. I loved dichroic glass and the way it seems to reflect other colors. After spending a few hundred dollars on the jewelry at the 4th Avenue Street Fai, I decided to take some classes and learn how to make it myself.
That was in 2007. Since then, I have taken many classes with Jennifer at Expressions art Glass on Broadway. I’ve made chimes, ornaments, sun catchers, plates, bowls, and jewelry. Each time has its own challenges and every kiln load is like Christmas morning…seeing how everything turned out.
One of my favorite things is to try and produce something in fused glass that another artist did with watercolor, paint, metal or traditional stained glass.
